The Safe Bay Finder app processes the following personal data:

2.1 Location Data

• GPS location data during app usage

• Background location (if enabled)

Purpose: Display of safe bays, navigation, mapping functions.

2.2 Account Data / User Data

• Username

• Email address

• Password (encrypted)

Purpose: Registration, login, user account, subscription management.

2.3 Device Information

• Device type, operating system version

• App version, device ID

Purpose: Security, error analysis, app optimization.

2.4 Error Logs & Crash Logs

• Crash reports

• Debug information

Purpose: Troubleshooting, stability improvement.

2.5 Usage Data / Analytics

• Interaction Data

• App Usage Behavior

Purpose: App optimization, analysis, improvement of user experience.

2.6 Camera & Images

• Access to Camera

• Uploading Photos (e.g., for reporting or rating locations)

Purpose: User functions within the app.

2.7 Push Notifications

• Token for Push Messages

Purpose: Notifications about new locations, alerts, updates.

(Usage planned – will be activated once technically set up.)

3. Legal Bases

Processing is based on:

• Art. 6 GDPR: Contract fulfillment, consent, legitimate interest

• Swiss DPA: Necessity for service provision

4. Third-Party Providers & APIs

The app uses the following services:

• Google Maps API – Maps, location features

• WeatherAPI – Weather data

• AIS API – Ship position data

• Wikidata API – Information content

• Google Firebase / Analytics (if activated) – Error analysis, usage

• Advertising networks (planned, not yet active)

These services may receive user data (e.g., IP address, location, device info).

5. In-App Purchases / Subscriptions

The app offers the following subscriptions:

• Standard Subscription: 2 CHF per month

• Pro Subscription: 4 CHF per month

Processing is done through Google Play Billing.

The respective terms and conditions of the Play Store apply.

6. Storage & Deletion

All user data will be stored:

• until the user deletes their account

• or requests deletion themselves

After account deletion, complete data deletion will occur within 30 days.

7. Data Transfer Abroad

Data may be transferred to countries where the aforementioned API services are operated (e.g., USA).

Standard contractual clauses (SCC) or comparable protective mechanisms will be applied.
